Hub notes serve as central anchors or "Hubs" within your note-taking system, providing an overview and connecting various related [[Permanent Notes]]. Hub notes are not atomic, they act as thematic entry points for broader topics. Hub notes topics can be abstract and are composed with different Permanent notes. To me, permanent notes are like libraries in programming: foundational, robust, and designed for reuse. In contrast, hub notes resemble programs, built to address specific challenges by leveraging the capabilities of these libraries. Eventually, hub notes are articles that are ready to be published to share the knowledge.
A Hub note is:
1. **Broader**. They offer a high-level overview around a broad theme or topic. For example, with pieces of different types of note defined, I now can create a hub note describes _My Note Taking System_, which uses related permanent notes.
2. **Logical and alive**. Hub notes organizes linked atomic notes with a logic flow, it can provide context and show the evolution of thought on a topic and highlight the relationships between various notes. While tags are good for categorization, they don't provide a logic flow of a complex topic.
3. **Cohesive**. Hub notes are ready-to-read articles. They are not a pool of information that contains all related permanent notes. They glue them together with adequate explanation to help people to learn the topic.
